I broadly agree, but I think the fundamental missing piece in current AI is not 'body' but action. Agents using action to experiment is a step change in capabilities over passive observation (pattern matching). You can use experiment to tease out causal relationships, this is not possible with passive observation. I think the bodies role in nature is merely enabling action. Action is the key, and you don't need a nature-like body to get this. AI driven action, that is what we need.
