Unless this becomes open for everyone, even for web devs that do not specifically have an Apple device and Apple Developer Licence, I do not see it getting far.

There's a JavaScript version that doesn't require you to have anything Apple related.

Can you please cite where it says that? OAuth requires API keys, I don't see how you could get those without anything Apple-related.
