ProtonMail's services are potentially important, but this site doesn't seem the most credible source of information about that.
This actually sounds so backwards as to have me wondering if it was a bug that they should have addressed rather than straightaway giving the refund ... never ascribe to malice that which etc. etc.
I've been looking into ProtonVPN for a while now (haven't gotten around to evaluating yet because reasons) and one thing I do recall is that they offer more entry/exit points when you're paid up. I wonder could it just have been an issue with one of these "paid" nodes? Now that he's going through the free plan perhaps he's using a node with higher traffic where issues are more readily apparent?
Being a proton VPN plus user for more than 6 months is a bit slow for me so i do use it only when i connect to un known/public networks rest of the time being off, i have 2 year subscription not sure will renew the VPN going forward, their mail services are top of line for my needs.
This is anecdotal, to be sure: I'm a Plus plan subscriber and Proton VPN seems very fast for me. No complaints.
Typically I'm using proximate nodes, and not routing through "Secure Core" routes, knowing the extra hops through Iceland, etc, will necessarily be slower.
