Google refuses to remove government app which lets men track women (thisisinsider.com)

So there was a comment on reddit that this app was actually the lesser of two evils, because this app allows women to not be with their male guardians (which according to the law should be with you all times, but that can be waived by filing lengthy and annoying paperwork process). This has allowed them to escape the country or enjoy autonomy that was unheard of.

I mean the best course of action is full autonomy but...

There is no hierarchy of evils in this case. Anything you do to enable one class of humans to claim ownership over another class of humans is absolute evil, you don't make it better or worse by giving the dominant class a more efficient way to let their "pets" run off the leash for a while, for as long as it pleases the "owners". To provide a platform for this kind of behaviour to be modernized, and hence normalized, is to be complicit in unspeakable evil that belongs only in dystopian sci-fi novels.

Perfect is the enemy of good.

By that reasoning South African apartheid was also good, Google would support that if it existed today if they got enough money for the cause.
