Because without JS pages load much faster and browser takes less memory. Ad and tracking often doesn't work without JS. Why would anyone want to use JS?




To extend the functionality of the browser.

What you say is true, so the question is why is it on and not off by default?

Does it imply that a webpage without Javascript is not useful?
