A lot of people don't have a choice.


Also, most people don't get to choose their language, or server operating system, etc. (Aside from the jobs they choose to take or continue working at) I don't think that's the audience of this discussion.


The choice of not using Kubernetes?


I believe the parent is referring to

Businessperson: "What do you mean <software> isn't in the cloud/on kubernetes/<some other catchy phrase> yet?"

Engineer: "Well we believe there are pros and cons which don't yet justify the additional cost or complexity for this use case..."

Businessperson: "All our competitors use Kubernetes! We can't sell <software> if it isn't on Kubernetes! Get on it ASAP!"


As I commented to grandparent, the article's audience probably isn't the powerless worker bee, but the architect who gets to make those choices.
