To some extent that already happens with safety regulations, & imports/sales of these products are illegal. That doesn’t mean that you should just give up.
Exactly. It's trivial today to purchase electronics without any required certifications (UL, FCC, etc) from aliexpress, etc. However, those certification programs are still alive and well, and knowledgable consumers can still seek them out.
