one thing for me that made a huge difference is I always did well And really liked my classes where the professor wrote their own textbook. I know this approach isn’t always feasible but if you want to really control the course work and the students learning flow I really highly recommend this approach.

Even if your first few times using the textbook are “choppy” it has some big benefits such as:

You are controlling the flow of the course

You know what exactly is in the textbook and should have a good estimation for quality on practice homework answers (this is important to identify problem points you may want to focus on)

You will also from my I xperienfe have much more latitude in how you can approach things. The professors I have had that wrote their materials for the course themselves always seem to really have a good ability for judging what they should or shouldn’t go deep on depending on how the class has been responding

You can save students a ton of money potentially (always a bonus!)
