On: How do you deal with people who ask you to fix their computer?

I built one, including picking the parts, but that was 12 years ago. I wouldn't try it again now without a few weeks study. Keeping up with changes and new hardware is more trouble than it's worth, if you don't do it more or less constantly, for a job or such.
