Ask HN: Ways to Monetize Browser Extension to Pay for Hosting?
1 point by x0054 on April 28, 2018 | hide | past | favorite
I recently wrote a Chrome and FireFox extension called KiwiBox [1]. It's a simple extension to quickly and temporarily bookmark pages you may need to come back to in a few days, but perhaps it's pages you don't want to permanently bookmark. I want to add sync functionality to KiwiBox, but sync storage has a 100 kb limit, not large enough to store screenshots. So, to add sync I would need to store data on a 3rd party host. In general this is easy to do, but hosting costs money, so to make this a sustainable proposition I would need to monetize this extension somehow in an ethical way. Any ideas?
