I am working on an analysis of the HN discussion corpus over the last 10 years, interested in how the community's discourse has changed, and in the trajectories of individual users within community change. [1] found that users initially adapt to community norms, then their discourse stabilizes and they gradually get marginalized as the community moves on.
I have seen occasional discussion of how this community has (or hasn't changed) as it has grown. I would be interested in your hypotheses or links to previous discussions. Are there particular topics or words that you've seen grow or shrink in prominence? What about more subtle shifts in discourse?
