My problem with GA has always been that when you get a new device, you have to have a manual process to transfer your setup to it. Yes it’s more secure. Yes it sucks. I recently switched to Authenticator Plus, which is commercial, because it has iCloud backup. The seeds are locally encrypted before they hit the server. To me this is an acceptable trade off for not being locked out of my accounts if I lose my phone (no, not everyone has sane backup methods and SMS isn’t secure). Does FreeOTP have this feature? I can’t tell.
