Ask HN: Can I sell an hypocrite app on appstore?
1 point by stealthapp on Aug 25, 2017 | hide | past | favorite
I am thinking of an app for iOS that I would use myself and seems like there can be a market for it.

The nature of the app is such that it must show itself like it's something else to an uninitiated visitor. Say, it is a storage for filthy photos of something (just to get the idea, something you don't want a random person would suspect you have). But it must have a look like a calculator and have the respective name on below the icon, like "Smart Calc".

Basically, it can work as a calculator, making +-*/ operations and showing results, but if you know some special combination, you can open that secret box.

Can apps like this pass the appstore reviewing process? Are there clear criteria that make it impossible or possible?

What are other options to distribute this kind of apps if the users still want to have it on their iPhones if it doesn't go through?
