I have a rule that says something isn't truly Open Source unless you can build it, because binary patching is for chumps. Have you tried to build those? There are several projects attempting to do so, and I have yet to experience "download tar, ..., boot that Darwin build in a (qemu|vm)!" for any value of "...".
