Ask HN: How do you approach customer validation for your business ideas?

I want to ask the HN crowd here about customer validation of online businesses, how do you approach it and what are some real world examples of hustle you have done to validate your business idea?

I have been struggling with this part of starting online bis for years. Every time the loop was similar to:Create Landing page -> Go to BetaList -> measure conversion from BetaList traffic -> Submit to similar pages -> Go to reddit -> Start contributing to related topics. etc

So after the "BetaList" phase I'm usually having difficulties to find people who would be relevant and willing to even look on the application and if my conversion rates looks bad, I usually abandon the project. But what if I just didn't find the right people to talk with? Where do you look for your targeted audience and how do you persuade to look at your product?

This question is inspired by section Customer validation from topic Things I’ve Learned from Reading IndieHackers (toomas.net)(https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14803468).
