I had a novel revelation yesterday. I needed to buy a new computer for my partner because theirs was being used by our daughter.
I like buying old ThinkPad T-series because they're better built, cheaper and the Linux installation hassles are less.
However there was no way my parter would be happy with an old ThinkPad.
However a friend suggested instead, just buy an old Thinkpad T-series for my daughter. This seems pretty wonderful, I can pick one up for a couple of hundred dollars and they have two main benefits:
* water draining keyboard
* magnesium roll cage
Umm these sound like perfect child-proof requirements.
So the $100 laptop is here, it's called an old ThinkPad and we should give them to all our kids (with Linux pre-installed of course).
