Off topic, but is anyone else having trouble loading and reading the article? I tried 3 times and the website is utterly unusable. Keeps sending me to the bottom of the page.

Totally unreadable on iOS Safari. Keeps jumping around then finally jumps to the bottom and disables scrolling.

Usually Reader View works for me on bad sites, but even that can't handle this...

I gave up reading halfway through because I can't get it to scroll smoothly.

Same here, but they already got my page view, and don't really care if I read the piece too. I wonder if the random scrolling back-forth ensures all the banners get actual time on screen, to maximize ad income.

Arrow keys worked great for me, before I discovered that it was jerky for me too, which definitely distracted, it was frustrating to get to the end of the essay.

Yes, scrolls randomly past 500 other articles in Vivaldi (Chrome) on OS X. Why did anyone ever think allowing JavaScript to control scroll was a good idea.

Someone probably got a bonus for inventing that

It did that to me on Safari on MacOS. But I just scrolled to the top and was able to read everything (albeit with a lot of ads).

Worked just fine for me in Safari, but Ghostery blocked 13 trackers, so maybe one (or multiple) of those is the culprit.

Yep keep jumping every time an image or ad loads.

You really should never override default scroll

Yup. Redirected me to the footer, then scrolling was a pain. Abandoned after reading the first few paragraphs.

Chrome on a Windows 10. The laptop is new and fast, so it's not a hardware issue.

Works fine here in Chrome on macOS.

Same on mobile with chrome, left without reading.

Yep. Utterly unusable on my Android tablet.

Maybe you could try a different web browser?
