Can shadow DOM be leveraged for better security

I have been going through the shadow DOM specifications and I personally feel that the shadow DOM can be used to provide better security using service workers and encapsulation of DOM elements. What say??

I would be interested in reading the technical basis for your conclusion. Particularly since it involves security, javascript, and a common programming paradigm.
