Anytime something like this comes up where a complicated issue is universally praised or derided I'm reminded of the Zen parable[0] of the possibly fortunate farmer

[0] http://www.katinkahesselink.net/tibet/zen.html first one on that page.

Sometimes things are pretty clear cut.

"One day farmer's young daughter was diagnosed with aggressive and terminal cancer. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy."

What would the farmer say then?

"Maybe," replied the old man. The following day, a group of bandits came to the town and razed it, torturing the village folk. The farmer's young daughter had already passed in the night, and didn't experience the horror.

The neighbors were dead at this point and couldn't be reached for comment.

I liked that. Thanks for posting.

There is already groups and small organisations that are gathering money to buy up these congressmens' browsing histories to publish them online. If this idea actually works, the karma and schadenfreude will be awesome to delight in.

That doesn't seem to be possible: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13992953
