If he was calling Lennart a sociopathic blond-haired hitler youth with a software design ethos that would make Uncle Adolf proud, that would be a personal attack. But he didn't do that. he merely said that, if Lennart had put up a Patreon to stop writing software, he (and I) would donate.

On the "attack" part, yes, the bar is low. It's low because the "personal" part is the salient one. These comments don't belong in the kind of civil and intellectually interesting discussions we're trying to have here.
