Just another reminder that no matter how good at something you get, there's almost certainly someone out there who's so much better it'll drop your jaw right to the floor.

Depressing at first, but it's a journey, not a destination. You've always got somewhere new and farther to go.


I think it's also good to remember that it works both ways, too, wherein once you've realized that there's someone better than you, there is also someone looking at you wishing they were better. Helps to negate out the bad feelings and keep perspective that - as you correctly said - it's a journey.


The title here is very clickbaity, and linking to a tweet seems pointless. Am I supposed to know who @bunniestudios is?

The video appears interesting though. He opens up an an iPhone chip and solders on two tiny wires. What is it for? Is there a hidden debug port?


Andrew describes it as "putatively repairing I2C traces between A8 CPU and anti-rollback EEPROM. The core technique is probably useful in broader contexts..."

My interpretation of that is that this mod will either:

a) Prevent the "you have 3 attempts left" countdown to lockout feature from working correctly - giving you unlimited PIN attempts.

and/or

b) Allow you to run unauthorized code on the iPhone.


Not sure about the problem solved in the video, but Andrew Huang has done some interesting work over the years.

What happened in that video? Why did he connected a wire directly to the board underneath the cpu?
