- CPU went from a i7-4578U to a i7-5557U (Haswell to Broadwell)
- memory was upgraded from 1600 DDR3L to 1866LPDDR3
- SSD was given extra lanes of PCIe

- Force Touch - "more advanced", not cheaper
- Battery life improvements
