The problem with most chinese brands (Xiaomi, Mijue, etc.) is the non-existing software updates.

My 1.5 year old Xiaomi Mi4i still gets weekly updates and has been since the launch, so that's not true.

[edit] It also still holds a 2-day charge after all this time and for it's price (180 euro's) it has been my best phone purchase in years.

I have the Xiaomi Mi4C, which gets an OTA update every week. Most changes are cosmetic, but typically includes substantive android security updates at least monthly.

Interestingly, my Mi4C never received OTA updates because there was a typo in "update.xiaomi.com" in the stock firmware.

I got a xiaomi redmi note 3 about a month ago and received two updates already, the second one is miui 8, I have 7.5 right now, but I won't update until I know is stable enougth

I have had samsungs and motorolas, and updates were few and slow.

You have a very biased view.

The real problem with phones made for China is that they don't support LTE bands from North America.

That's bad because I would love to have such a nice phone, but not at the expense of going back to 3G.

This might change in the future, the upcoming Xiaomi phones will have much more bands supported.

Not the case for Xiaomi... weekly updates

My hauwei got android 6 a few months ago. Definitely a long wait, but they update regularly as far as I know.

Yeah no software updates aye, I probably get a minor security fix once a fortnight and have had a major os upgrade within a week of my phone arriving (xiaomi redmi 3s). I have owned about 5 different China phones, thl had awesome build and occasionally update. Xiaomi has had the best update frequency tho.

Yes, because my other phones do receive updates regularly.....
