It's my understanding that the MacBook is a very, very low wattage part - the "core M" series (~5 watts?). A MacBook Air has the lower wattage "core i" series part (~15 watts?), and the MacBook Pro has the higher wattage "core i" series part (~25 watts?).

I can't find any documentation ATM.

The MacBook has an i5 or an i7, yes, and it also has fans, so it doesn't throttle so heavily on high workloads. It makes playing some games on low settings possible, which I appreciate.

I think that you mean "MacBook Air / Pro", as the MacBook is Core-M based and lacks fans, etc.

Oops, yes, the MBA is what I meant.

Hm I never used a laptop and thought, I wish this machine had a higher wattage.

You have probably used one and thought "this laptop is slow, I wish it were faster."

Totally! Never directly associated that with watts though.

an i5 today is about the same speed as an i7 in 2012, but uses 1/3rd the power. to use any less power, it needs to get slower.
