Shimon Peres is remembers as a dove, but was one of the originators of the Israeli settlement movement in the heart of the West Bank:

> "Shimon Peres was among the first in the Israeli leadership to promote the establishment of provocative Jewish settlements in the northern heart of the occupied West Bank, the area Israelis call Samaria."

> "Gershom Gorenberg in his book on Israel’s settlements, The Accidental Empire, details how repeated efforts to establish settlements near the Arab city of Nablus were rebuffed, until Mr. Peres quietly allowed a group to set up facilities at an old railway station named Sebastia and alongside an army camp in a place the settlers called Ofra."

BDE. One of the last legends.

Excuse my ignorance but I am at a loss for what BDE could possibly stand for.

"Upon receiving the news of the passing, the following blessing is recited:

ברוך (אתה ה' א‑לוהינו מלך העולם,) דיין האמת. Transliteration: Barukh (atah Adonai Eloheinu melekh ha'olam,) dayan ha-emet." (parentheses mine)

Google translation:

Blessed (are You, Lord our God,) the true judge.
