Show HN: Couple of Ways to Improve Twitter

I am attempting to solve a couple of issues with Twitter.

1. Overflowing Timeline Due to sheer volume of tweets, some are dropped which could be important to you.

2. Alerts for Important Updates Twitter is realtime and contains breaking information sooner than most other news channels. Again due to the volume of tweets, its hard to know when and what to alert you.

Solution I’ve made an attempt at solving these with a couple of apps

1. Iπstant Iπstant lets you create micro groups of five users Twitter users important to you letting you create focused timelines. As the tweet volume is controllable, the tweets are not dropped and you get to see more of whats important to you.

For e.g. you can create a group for your close friends, a particular set of news orgs, reporters or industry leaders you are following, your competitors, users tweeting about an ongoing event, ….

You can enable timed realtime alerts for every tweet received in a group. This lets you control who to receive the alerts from and for how long. The alerts contain the full tweet text, letting you follow along without opening the app or simply from your Apple Watch.

2. Treπds While Twitter shows trends, it does not as yet alert you when something important is happening. This app uses a custom algorithm to determine which of the Twitter trends to alert you about. The alert also contains the full text of the most popular tweet letting you get a gist of the trend simply from your lock screen or Apple Watch without opening the app. No Twitter account is required to use the app making it an easy way to onboard non-twitter users.

I’d love for you to try out these apps and see if you find them useful.

Thanks, Aashish
