AI winter is coming soon.

AI winter will come if it isn't able to latch onto strong business cases. For the past few years, we've seen a slow uptake of low-grade AI, for example, Siri. As long as those sorts of things continue, the winter won't have a chance to set in.

It's true there is a lot of baseless hype around AI, but there's baseless hype around every new technology (probably around everything that catches people's attention). That said, if someone predicted that Watson is going to die, I would believe them, because they haven't seemed to get much business traction at all.




ML as part of AI drives major industries already. Like web search and internet ads.


I think it's more accurate to say linear solvers drive internet ads. Which could arguably be characterized as machine learning, I guess.


Mostly logistic regression, and sometimes deep learning. Both are part of ML.
