Hold up. Just because Google's problem is a big one to solve, doesn't refute the point that human drivers are bad.

Yes, driving is actually a challenging task. But guess what, humans are BAD AT IT. And are computers going to be better? I'd be pretty damn surprised if they weren't.

Most crashes come down to distraction. Computers never get distracted. So if we can workout errors like the one in this story, then at least we can say the computer isn't going to get lazy or distracted and suddenly forget it's lessons learned.

Yes, its a challenging road ahead for these self driving cars. But I'd feel so much safer in a world of autonomous vehicles than I would with the morons behind the wheel of today.
