The bacteria aren't processing the images in any way, correct. But the pre-processed image (light reflecting into a point) does contain the same objects in a scene. It's similar to a pin-hole camera in its simplicity. So they do see the whole scene blurry like that, they just can't process any of it (which means making distinctions in what they see)
