Isn't that a tradeoff between some form of security, the benefits, the name recognition, the value it gives you on the market later VS the freedom to market yourself more precisely, the more divers opportunities, etc?
He makes twice as much, but does it take everything into account (sick leave, pension plans, all the things you get on campus)?
In the small world department I recognized the name Rishon Blumberg from my previous days in the music business, and his (presumably) previous job as a manager for music artists like John Mayer.
If he's now representing coders instead of actual rock stars that's an interesting sign of the times.
