I used to work for the CBC and I think most of my colleagues are utterly ashamed of this outside the context of looking back on the wrong parts of our history.
Though what's interesting is how passionately the women laugh along with it. That's not nervous laughter from a bout of false consciousness, either.
In fact, on the whole, this is extremely mild. Tabloids, reality TV, talk shows and standup comedy shows are much raunchier today than back then. People like Lenny Bruce actually got into hefty legal issues with their routines, now it's purely public opinion.
It shows how different of a time it is with the whole crowd laughing along. Are there other videos of HST this young? He seemed even sharper back then, or not stoned.
