Ask HN: Does engineering bias affect your product selection?

Do you feel more comfortable using products from companies that you feel 'generally have' great engineers (and presumably better code)? e.g Nexus phone vs Samsung phone, iPhone vs Android (note: Apple's engineering is not widely known).
