Actually I have to say I'm very sensitive to certain noises; like lots of people talking, or kids screaming etc will drive me really mad after a certain level, it's not technically 'pain' but I really have to go away, fast when the level is passed...

But it's not just that, if I hear a musician playing even so slightly off key, it's almost painful and I have to physically move away.. Same with singing... Off key xmas carols will have me running in no time :-)

And it's definitely not being pedant or anything like that, it's really some bizarre reflex...

And yes the level varies sometime; my assumption was that it might be linked to blood pressure, but I have no way to correlate that.

I believe you. I used to play Diamond Mine compulsively, until one day the 'ching' noise it plays when you make a match started to cut into my brain. It felt like being stabbed - real panic and adrenaline rush each time. Hurt like heck. It got worse, definitely that noise. Needless to say I have never gone back.

Yes, lots of people talking is another one or, to be more exact, when there are multiple sources of noise.
