How do you figure 400,000+ adverse event reports, and why do you think that raw number is useful?
As you know, because you had to acknowledge the statement:
> "A report to VAERS generally does not prove that the identified vaccine(s) caused the adverse event described. It only confirms that the reported event occurred sometime after vaccine was given. No proof that the event was caused by the vaccine is required in order for VAERS to accept the report. VAERS accepts all reports without judging whether the event was caused by the vaccine."
I downloaded the 2014 data set, 2014VAERData.csv. There are fewer than 35K reports for all of 2014, across all vaccines. There are 25 years of reports. Did you simply add up all the reports for the last 25 years to get your 400,000+ count? (Based on your report elsewhere, that seems to be the case.)
One of the <21K reports for 2015 is:
> Pt. fainted for just a few seconds after the shot and once he gained consciousness he informed us that he could hear everything and apologized for not informing us earlier that he always passes out for less than a minute for any shots due to immense fear of shots. He was absolutely fine in less than a minute and said it wasn't because of vaccines.
another is:
> Fainted after varicella, Tdap, HPV and meningo. Had not eaten since 8am. Vaccines given at 4pm.
A third is:
> I am an RN and therefore am knowledgable in respect of proper/safe IM injection technique. I could tell that the vaccinator was nervous & can remember the feeling so I looked away in hopes of taking some pressure off of him. After the initial stick, I could tell something was wrong and turned to look at what was happening. This is when I noticed the worried look on the administrator's face before he proceeded to withdraw the needle a little bit and then inject the vaccine. I myself was very worried once I realized how very high up on my arm the injection was placed. It felt as if he had administered the shot directly into my joint & completely missed any sliver of muscle tissue altogether. After receiving the vaccine, I instantly/constantly experienced extreme pain in shoulder w/ any movement, range of motion, stretching, weight bearing, etc. The pain has since caused me to wake up in the middle of the night and is only somewhat relieved with high doses of NSAIDS.
A fourth is:
> Initial misuse report received from a healthcare professional on 12 November 2013. A 10-year-old patient (gender was not reported) received a dose of DAPTACEL. No adverse event was reported. Documents held by sender: none.
Did you include all of these in your count? If so, why?
I am looking at a dataset from 01/01/1996 - 12/31/2012
The table that contains individual reports has 407,141 rows in it, these are distinct reports.
There are also 3,796 deaths reported in those 407,141 reports.
Since you included some samples from the SYMPTOM_TEXT column, let me provide a few as well:
Hypotonic, Hyporesponsive episode, Infant died: Reyes text Syndrome. Vaccine given for routine immunizations.
child found dead in bed 14Jan90. Had full check up 12Jan90 with immunizations DPT/HIB/Oral Polio
Pt admitted with H-Flu meningitis on 24Jun90. Pt expired on 25Jun90. Pt received HIB vaccine at 18 months of age.
Our office became aware of the infants death by an acquaintance of the family. This person also states that cause of death was determined to be S.I.D.S.
Relapse of ITP: 18 year-old female with immune thrombocytopenic purpura, diagnosed in 1995 and in remission from 2004 to 2011 following treatment with Rituximab. Relapse in early April, 2011, followed administration of Gardasil vaccine on 10-26-10 and 1-7-11. Relapse of ITP led eventually to death from intracranial hemorrhage on 07/06/2011.
Infant reportedly co-sleeping. Found nonresponsive. EMS took to ER - 24 hr in PICU - arrested and died.
You appear to be trying to overwhelm people with meaningless and uninterpretable data. "If you can't convince them, confuse them"?
The top problems are that there was some localized effect where the shot went into the body. This is a well-known possibility for any shot, and nothing specific due to vaccines.
Apparently 566 people reported a "Chest X-ray normal" as an adverse affect and 533 people reported "Computerised tomogram normal". And this is something to worry about because ... why?
