The black unemployment rate - 13% according to the Federal Reserve - is higher than it was a half century ago.




This is wildly misleading because it’s obviously a terrible time to make any useful historical comparisons. At the end of 2019, unemployment rate among Black people in the US was about 5.5%.


If saying "now" is "terribly misleading" - the Federal Reserve says black unemployment was higher from 2010 to 2012 then it is now.


As was the overall unemployment rate! Was there anything that happened just before 2010 that might’ve caused that?


Black unemployment was 5% back in November. Lowest in 40 years.

Of course it went up when the gov’t said businesses have to shutdown.
