I think it might not be worth his investment. More and more people around the world are doing computers jobs the skill is going to be less and less valued. Maybe a minor in CS would be more worth it for him. Plus he sounds like he already has done a lot of work with it.

Most of the big companies are now tech companies now so we are probably at peak tech. The FAAG companies in the united states are looking at major outsourcing plans over the next 20 years in the united states. Just like manufacturing did back in the day.

That was different when I did it back in the 90s.

AI which is mostly based on LLM are based on the old Neural networks of the past. Having worked on the early ones they have all of the same issues that they had over 20 years ago.

Neural Networks have the long tail risk problem. In that they are good at returning the top 20% of answers to you. But they are pretty poor at returning the less common 80% answers.

I have seen the different tools return the wrong code, code with security issues or code that was open source that is not legal to use in your project without open sourcing it.

The big tech companies are selling it as AGI and this massive replacement tool to get more money. But really it is just gaining a few percentage points of productivity.

Most modern development tools can do the same. Like if you are able to build a app with some low code method. I have not seen a AI build app that i could not build in a low code system in the same amount of time.
