I think there is an idea there, but this obviously won't work. Here are some large drawbacks:

* timezones, most of the world is not on EST. If you make it per timezone, then not everyone will be on at the same time.

* 7.39 to 10.39 is not practical for everyone even on EST timezone. I go to sleep at 8pm, this means that I avoid screentime 7-8pm because of blue light. We all have different schedules, I tend to only use my computer during the business hours. In the evening I want to spend time with my kids, not be on social. Even if your social network would have a reward, for example 100$ a month to use it from 7.39 to 10.39, I would decline.

Some food for thought:

* Make the time open only based on a user selection. For example I would chose 9am to noon. Only allow switching time once a month. Clearly display a schedule of when most of your friends have selected a time, so that if I see that actually a lot of my friends have chosen 1 to 4pm instead, I can switch to that.

* Most likely after this comment, I will never see your site again. I would suggest adding a demo or a video, for people logging in outside of the hours, to entice them to come back when the site is open.

I've been building PDF renderers for a few clients. The biggest request in PDFs has been accessibility. Everyone needs to be ADA compliant. I sadly don't see myself switching to a canvas renderer because then there is no accessibility.

I agree, it's the reason this year I switched to iPhone even if I clearly prefer Android :(

NY has insane property taxes. I pay 11k for a 400k house. I have not seen property taxes so high anywhere else in the country.

As a developer I love the idea of plaid, but the pricing is scary. The 100 first banks is great, but the pay as you go does not give me any ideas of the pricing.

I love how Stripe presented the pricing page, 1.5$ per account, 10cents per fetch balance. Very clear. I still have no idea how much plaid will cost me.

I'm not really sure this is comparable to Strava. First this only covers mountain biking, I use Strava also for runs, swims, skiing, and it can do a lot more. Secondly I don't actually use Strava to record or view data, I use Garmin for that and just post to Strava. My only utility in Strava is the social newsfeed (to see what others are doing and be social) and also the PRs a little bit.

Now given that, I think your app looks quite cool, I just wouldn't compare it to Strava. I would highly recommend instead of positioning yourself as a competitor to Strava, is to allow users to record on your app and post to Strava. I use Garmin to record my data and then post to Strava because Garmin gives me a lot more detail than Strava, but I can still compare myself to millions of users on Strava that don't use Garmin.

Do you live in Manhattan? 110k in Manhattan is a bit tight to be honest. Also 110k seems quite low for a Tech Director. In NY the average for a Tech Director salary is 160k-240k

My first recommendations to you would be consider looking for other jobs, and see what you can make elsewhere. Just do some job interviews. I know you worked at that company for a very long time, but sometimes a switch is needed to bump the salary. Our company is hiring a Director of Engineering btw (in Boston if you can consider moving), check the job listing just in case: https://maark.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=76

My second recommendation, if you live in a high cost of area, consider moving, I know this is not for everyone, but I personally moved to upstate NY and just go to the office from time to time. My mortgage for a house I've build and is 2600 sqfeet is less than 25% my salary. Again not possible for every job, especially if you have family nearby, just throwing it there.

And last recommendation, is whatever your salary, have a solid financial plan. It doesn't mean that you can afford a Tesla and your colleague has a Tesla, that you should buy a Tesla. I personally still drive an 11 year old car, I pay Verizon prepaid instead of contract, mostly to have money available for things I truly love. Even if you make 1M$ a year, have a budget. If you have credit card debt, or any sort of debt other than Mortgage, I recommend checking out Dave Ramsey, his philosophy is a bit extreme (he is entirely against Credit Cards), but it can show you a way out if you are drowning.

I pay about 700$ per year in property taxes to my library. Thats much more than what I pay for movies including netflix per year.

You pay $700/yr in property tax total? Or $700/yr to the library specifically? If the latter, what’s your total property tax? And where do you find info about what amount of it goes to the library?

Have you tried recent devices? Garmin used to have a bump on some forerunners, my wife had it, it was very uncomfortable. I personally have the Vivoactive 3, which is flat, I've been wearing it 24/7 except for charging (during the day, so i've slept with it), and it's very comfortable.

Garmin or Suunto provide much better quality than Fitbit, Fitbit is a cheap quality. Garmin, Apple and Suunto aren't. Just check what the pros are using :)
