I always assumed it was to validate email addresses and filter out bounce backs. The above is a very interested theory and publication.

How is this outed? They blatantly confessed to violating Google's Webmaster Guidelines?

Not only that, the majority of their links are dead or have no PageRank as if Google already hit them (the inbound links).

I believe this could negatively affect SEO

Thank you I didn't even consider this.

Obviously and SQL injection for SEO purposes.

Your assumption is wrong. Ahrefs is a backlink compiling bot that tracks, documents and records in/outbound links. They do not sell services directly.

*not that I am aware of.

I was just going by this page: https://ahrefs.com/pricing_plans.php

It is possible I am misinterpreting what they are offering.

Back up for me. Comcast support was a JOKE.

Yeah it's back up for me now too. CNN had an article on it, funnily enough. They are headquartered in Atlanta though so they probably all got hit with the outage. Seems the southeast and comcast users were hit hardest

i hope others might remember such awesome feelings. please excuse if this is not valid for HN, but i assumed many of you could relate.

Thanks for your feedback. However, the Google Guidelines appear to be contradicting and ever changing.

It's not a complaint, it's a valid argument to shed some light upon their eyes. Sorry you don't share the same passion but claiming to 'bother people' is a bit much.
