Why wouldn’t it be a tax write off? Profits are taxed, not revenues. If revenues were taxed instead of profits, there would be even more powerful consolidation market forces to vertically integrate every single industry to avoid double-taxing revenue.
You can thank the existence of every single independent company to the existence of that tax writeoff you find so unfortunate.
My reading of GP was that it makes it worse because it means there's much less financial reason to avoid making accommodations - which would be somewhat understandable - and that implies they're doing so for other reasons.
Punished him how? Were the schmepublicans not already turning up the drama dial to 11? What further recourse did they have to make things worse for him?
To transliterate your comment into an equivalent context:
I feel like after 12 or so hours of chess I'd figure out how to not hang pieces. From there, how to find the best moves is just a question of dedicating energy into finding them in game.
I'm not sure why anyone plays more than 100 or so hours of chess. Doesn't it get boring?
Is trying to beat the highest depth of stockfish in chess not competitive? It is a sequence of deterministic, open-information multiple-choice actions.
It's not that deterministic, multiple choice games can't be competitive, it's that they need different things from your average solo sport to make them competitive.
They weren't clear with what they meant, but to steelman the argument...
Some things that increase wealth inequality are bad, others are good: J.K. Rowling increased wealth inequality by writing Harry Potter, but the world is better off having a great children's book series. Book purchasers, publishers and authors are all enriched by the existence of the book.
It's a good thing because while land prices rise with density, rent prices will decrease as housing stock increases. If your neighbor sells his house and it gets replaced with condos, then more people will be able to live there.
Maybe it's counterintuitive to you, but dense housing is actually better for traffic congestion as people are better able to live near the places they need to go, instead of having vast swaths of suburbs a la Los Angeles.
And how many degrees of freedom went into the choice of metrics to compare? Just because something went 8/8 doesn't mean it will predict the future crashes.
