Had the same reaction. Originally when I was first reading this article, I thought this app was using Apple's API and Apple thought it was okay for the app to be sending data to third parties. But like you said halfway through the article you read that they don't use their API.

The clickbait is real.


The Vivaldi web browser[0] found a great solution to this problem years ago. Tab stacking, tab tiles, and native tab hibernation. I've been rocking it for 3+ years now, and I've got to say it is the best browser out there.

Lol they said they believe GitHub won't mind, and that person doesn't work for them either.


This is not a valid to excuse companies when they do this.


For this forum, maybe not. For 99.9% of their userbase, it plainly is.


Do you know how much data that would have to be? Scaling that seems improbable.


The NSA has built a data center in Utah specifically for this problem[1], so it's hardly beyond the realm of plausibility.
