I just moved back to Canada from the UK. In the UK we got our milk from a local dairy in glass bottles with a wee foil tab on the mouth. Occasionally the magpies would get to it before we did, and we had a couple bottles go bad in a heat wave, but generally it worked great. Now I’m back to buying bags of milk within bags, and the amount of waste is shocking. Can’t recycle it where I am.

While milk bags are not as environmentally friendly as glass, glass is very heavy and expensive to transport and requires a fair bit of energy to wash and sterilize for reuse.

Compared to cardboard cartons (which are lined with plastic to make it waterproof) and plastic jugs, milk bags are more environmentally friendly even if you put the bags in a landfill and recycle or reuse the cartons and/or jugs.

That said, even if milk bags are not recycled, you can reuse them. Many Canadians cut one of the short ends and rinse them out to make a freezer bag or a lunch bag which can be reused multiple times. Some people use them to hold nails or screws.

My first real exposure to Lua was as the configuration language of imapfilter. Absolutely loved both.

I used to set my laundry to run so that when I got up in the morning it would be ready to hang or run through the dryer. When my old machine broke the landlord replaced it with this garbage Beko that locks the door during the delay period. Such a small, and yet profoundly stupid design decision that completely changes the way I use the machine in the negative.

Highly recommended. They used to have a gaming-focused satellite in the Grand Arcade. It’s gone, now, but I heard a rumour they may bring it back in the summer.

At the Code Club for which I volunteer the next step is Python. We use the Raspberry Pi projects[1] which use the Tinker[2] repl.

I volunteer for a code club, so maybe I can help you out. I’m not sure what I’m missing in your issue, but Scratch scripts run continuously once the green flag is clicked. You can stop execution programmatically using the stop() block.

That’s the problem. I don’t want a green flag that is required to start the application.

I bought a couple of the Budget Bytes (https://shop.budgetbytes.com) meal plans a while back. They're not fantastic if you're outside of North America, but I was able to make them work. Haute cuisine it ain't, but if you're looking for a starting point I recommend them.

I also recommend starting to put your favourite recipes into a recipe app (I use Paprika, available on most platforms). Even add simple stuff like Yogurt and Fruit Breakfast. Then you can use the app's built-in meal planner and grocery list generator.

The elitism is in calling what is absolutely the largest market for gaming "wannabe". I have sunk tonnes of money and time into gaming, and I spend a lot of time helping friends get familiar with games so they can play with their kids. But I am absolutely not competitive. It's ridiculously insulting for you to call me a "wannabe".

Well, we're halfway there. "Last year, cassette sales grew 28% to 440,000 units, up from 343,000 in 2021."
