Senior / Staff-level product engineer with ~12 years of experience building and shipping production software. Strong frontend focus with deep full-stack experience. I’ve led zero-to-one builds, shipped high-reliability systems, real-time collaborative tools, and large-scale search (1.6M+ searches/month). Comfortable owning architecture, product, UI/UX, and execution end-to-end.

Looking for Senior, Staff, Principal, or Founding Engineer roles at product-driven teams that value team health, self-starters, and high quality work.

This is going to be a great place for inspiration, thank you!

I have 12 years of experience and have worked on a lot of zero to one greenfield projects.

Menu Engineering (https://github.com/TravisBumgarner/menu-engineering) I have a friend who manages their restaurant's menu via an Excel doc. Tabular data does not play well with a menu's tree structure. So I'm building them an app to more easily build and analyze the menu.

Fast Classifieds (https://travisbumgarner.dev/marketing/classifieds) A lot of the jobs I'm looking for are on smaller company job boards only. It takes me about an hour or two each time I want to browse all the sites I have bookmarked. I made a little app that automates the process and reduces the time down to about 5 minutes to look through the new posts.

I'm starting to shift my energies towards building more hardware and less web/mobile apps for side projects.

I'm currently working on Dice of Sending - for when you want to roll physical dice but you play DND online. This is mostly just for fun with my DND group.

I love photography and I love design. Often, my color palettes are inspired by photos I've taken. I wanted an app that would allow me to create such color palettes and browse creations by others. It's just in alpha and I've got a long list of functionality and improvements to work on but I wanted to share out now.

I fell in love with Mexico because of the colorful architecture. I've found that many buildings would make for good color palettes. So I made an app to convert 145 photos of mine into color palettes.

I really like what Pirate Software does. He runs Game Jams (https://itch.io/jam/pirate) which are a great way to build small things as a way to learn. There's also a very active Discord community: https://discord.com/invite/piratesoftware

I hadn’t seen that Discord before, thanks for letting me know!
