I would like to quickly share this through my social media channels. A sub-page with pre-made material to spread the word would do it. For example 2-3 Instagram story templates, something for X/Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, …

Thanks for the suggestion, yesterday I implemented a way to link directly to each politician's face, i.e.: https://dontspy.eu/x/164/ so it can be easily embedded in social media.

It's not "announced" yet and the links aren't embedded in the page yet, I'm testing if the sentence at the top ("The AI Act must protect human rights and work for civil society, not fall into easy concessions to the surveillance ecosystem!") works well or not.

About Instagram stories (I'm building a GPT ), which would turn the most complex article into a series of stories. We don't have a graphic designer and we only do social media in a personal capacity, without a real strategy. I'll update here when I do, I guess if the day goes well it would be around midnight GMT.

The Don't Spy EU is a very unfunded project with only a few people working on it, with other day jobs. (But I'm very happy about the outpouring of support we've gotten from HackerNews - lots of new politician names have been imported, and lots of pictures too!)

For this reason I have really noticed a spike in views and input, it was very important to be seen now that time is running out. if any of you can also share it on reddit or other tech-politics related forums, it would be really helpful!

My journey into the psychology of acting as if something already happened, and how it transformed the way I manage expectations, communicate, and achieve objectives.

Same here! Out of curiosity, what are you using (iOS, Android, ...)?

Pixel 2.

My belief is the 2nd version of any tech is the best. They've fixed the initial bugs from version one and are still trying to impress you, but they haven't started abusing and controlling you/your data with version 3 and on.

Which platform are you using?

I'm primarily using apple devices and their TTS is surprisingly good. Not sure if everything related to their tts experience works on-device but at least the voice models need to be downloaded when choosing a voice. The quality of the newer voices are insanely good.

I've been using this feature for multiple years and the moment I started my research to write this blog post I realized that other platforms unfortunately can't offer the same kind of experience and as you said the quality of the voices just can't keep up - it still sounds robotic..

I liked the premium voices from speechify and natural reader, but those were pretty expensive. Regarding the free voices, I tried a bunch of different options there, I don't think I remember which ones. I'm pretty sure that I tried tts on my iphone and mac, but didn't think they were very good. Are there different models/voices that apple offers that need to be downloaded seperately?

Edit: Ohh, there are indeed. Some of the voices have enhanced versions that do sound much better. Not as good as the paid ones, but maybe good enough. I'll give it a try.

This looks really exciting but I want to warn that this fulfills the following criteria:

- feels to good to be free

- it targets a problem that we all sense and fear when we interact with other people

- the privacy and security policy is legally invalid in California and the EU (missing both is quite weird as they’re very well known privacy standards)

- the email address listed inside the privacy and security policy is invalid

Before trying their service I attempted to request a proper privacy policy via their listed email address which returns me an error saying that this address doesn’t exist.

As Slack is listed as a company that backs this service, I just reached out to their support team to cross-check the authenticity of this new service. This is getting exciting..

it’s not slack listed as a company but rather “professionals from”…

> Trusted by professionals from

This is a growing trend I’ve noticed - it’s a bit of a fake call to legitimacy

(It’s also virtually impossible to prove or disprove when it’s a large company!)

Some companies strictly forbid using their logos in this form (I worked for one). A takedown notice is sent at first sight.

It works, but makes sponsoring open source, events, etc a lot more painful due to the approvals needed.

Sounds a bit like they are a startup with very limited time and resources to me. I hope they haven't outright lied about endorsements, however they are building something I quite like the look of and would find personally useful (especially after the horrors of my terrible YC application video), however it looks very expensive to run... I think free is a bit of a worry but it also implies they might not have built that bit yet. Let's see if they show up in the comments to assuage your concerns.

It's pretty clear what/who the product is here ...

If this was a downloadable offline app, I'd be happy to give it a try. But uploading deepfake training data into the cloud? No thanks.

I'm glad there are people out there like you to keep people honest but man, I could never imagine doing what you've just outlined.

What I often miss in privacy matters conversations is a little talk about how we think about the future when data collection is happening today.

We assume that we keep progressing and not stepping back into our dark past. But is that realistic?

The person you are today might be respected and legal (in the sense of a country's law or society). But within the next 5 years, there could be a different kind of government, one that gradually reverses your rights. And suddenly the facts about you (each one of them already collected today through your browsing habits or followings/followers interests) can expose you, your family or friends, and even worse they could put you or them in danger.
