Very well written. I think people focus too much on the plane (myself included) and not enough on the community and skillset that will be lost if a transition is not done carefully to another platform. I've seen it happen in my career, and once that set of relationships and knowledge is lost, it's next to impossible to rebuild.


I would argue that Classic Mac OS was not that much better off.

It still lacked protected memory and preemptive multitasking.

The Amiga OS still had far better multi tasking abilities than Classic Mac OS


There is a similar Client for System 7 called LegacyAI that has been making waves in VintageApple circles


I am curious. What shareware did you develop back in the day?
