Maybe it’s part of a botnet?

... It will be.

That was my first thought. Or maybe it's stuck in a loop downloading an update that's failing for some reason.

My first thought was something failing and repeating, but note the upload is far greater than the download.

Given the ratio of upload to download I think you probably nailed it.

I’m trying out https://Kopia.io at the moment Finally something that is fully cross platform, easy to use and open source.

Maybe try the open source programs at Fastly.com or Bunny.net

For me, it's been bottom https://github.com/ClementTsang/bottom and dua https://github.com/Byron/dua-cli for a while

I've found some other cool CLIs written with rust at https://github.com/TaKO8Ki/awesome-alternatives-in-rust

Instead of "find -maxdepth 1" there is "fd -I -d 1" which in my experience is faster as it uses multiple threads https://crates.io/crates/fd-find

Possible target for spear phishing (easier to social engineer when more information about a target is public).

Account take-over if the password was used elsewhere (credential stuffing).

Become a target for Extortion or Blackmail: https://www.troyhunt.com/the-opportunistic-and-empty-threat-...

Edit: Some companies still use birth dates, security questions or social security numbers for identification. If the information is public, any one can identify as that person via a phone call. https://krebsonsecurity.com/?s=SMS&x=10&y=14 https://krebsonsecurity.com/2018/10/voice-phishing-scams-are... https://krebsonsecurity.com/2018/08/hanging-up-on-mobile-in-...

Actually that is how QNAME minimisation (on the resolver) works https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7816

unbound has some nice slides: https://ripe72.ripe.net/presentations/120-unbound_qnamemin_r...

Cryptomator.org inside iCloud. I like it because I'm responsible for the password. There is no password reset feature.

Also a +1 for Keybase.

I don't think it's a new hack it's just that the internal investigation has lead to more findings of the already talked about cookie hack: https://www.tripwire.com/state-of-security/featured/more-yah...

Thanks, It all started when I got asked whether I could build a simple way to download specific areas of google maps. The following day a college asked whether it was possible to just get the traffic layer and download it for further analysis. So map-dl was born :-)
