They did it to themselves. I'm sure we will read books about their failure and the replacement of Google search with chats and llms. The outcome is quite peculiar, because those chats are a blessing but should we really give them our data away. Scary what they will do with it. It was already scary enough with Google.
I am reading a book about it right now and as I learn more it seems too crazy and unbelievable to sustain (and im quite gullible person), especially part about living on full ocean in small boats with no food, water and heat, in extreme cold, still travelling those 100s of kilometers.
There was a part that stuck with me, a journal entry that described the Endurance crew standing on a ice that had trapped their boat, and just watching in horror as the shifting ice flow crushed it. It powerfully conveyed raw despair and overwhelming hopelessness, which in an of itself is exceedingly difficult for anyone to overcome, let alone in extremely hostile conditions.
This "company" is strongly connected with previous government and their prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki (company owner is his close colleague), they work more like organized crime than legal entity copying the Russians. Sometimes, but not often, they even make some assassinations and I'm afraid it may be so in this case.
There was a female deputy Magdalena Biejat, now a president candidate, who was trying to make some public inquiry but the deputies from other party prevented that.
It all works because the former ruling party organized around themselves some kind of semi-religious cult consisting of around 1/3 of nation, usually older people that oppose everything they don't understand.
Haven't you mistaken Magdalena Biejat (senator and presidential candidate) with Paulina Matysiak (deputy making inquiries, now sued by Newag as well)? They're coming from the same political background, but are in fact two distinct women :)

Seems like cool concept, basically it's just solar furnace with extra steps - to me it is a bit nonsense that it is placed in Germany because there are far better locations on a globe like Chile with 10 times more solar energy per m2.
I am glad, however, that the idea of solar furnace is still being explored. Yesterday I was wondering if such installation could be put on a large ship vessel which would solve problem of year season. Also with our knowledge about tornado formations the ship could be put in places with max solar input.
By the time they reach end of their suty, they had enough money to buy slave od even two, they didnt work on this land on their own - this depends on specific epoch though
