yep, and FileSearchEX

I was so impressed with the MacBook M3 Pro that my daughter had that I switched from Windows desktop and laptops to the Apple ecosystem. And I'm a veteran Microsoft user from the '90s!

Currently using a MacBook Air M4 and a Mac Mini M4.

Welcome to Macintosh (I've seen CPUs go from 68k -> PPC -> Intel -> Silicon). The hardware architecture just keeps improving (but can't say the same for macOS).

>so impressed with the MacBook

The sound on these Apple Silicon laptops is absolutely impressive, making an immediate & lasting impression upon first-timers.

----

The basic configuration M4 (mini) is a very capable system, with an incredible price... it's just slightly slower than an M2Pro, for half the price.

I have an M3 (air) which is ignificantly less-capable than either (the mistake Apple made was default 8GB configuration).

Agree. Currently using VSCode, but its not really a dedicated file editor.

Wow, this will be helpful.

I'm new to macOS, long time Windows dev. What I'm really missing is taskbar. A way to see, visually, that I have application running that are minimized and yet able to be positioned by sliding them around. Is there anything like this for macOS 15.7?

Something like sidebarapp.net?

And I did it over the weekend. /s

Would it use less power on ARM architecture?

I've wanted to switch to Linux. May have to give it another go someday. Currently moving over to macOS. Will see how it goes.

Great. macOS is freebsd so it's not Linux but closer to Linux than Windows. That is good.

The bad is that Apple is just like Windows, just wants to look better. It is not.

Better than Windows? Ok, a little better yes.

macOS is not FreeBSD. It’s Darwin which contains some FreeBSD subsystems built atop Mach, and some FreeBSD userland.

I did this a few months back and never looked back. Linux failed me in music production and gaming, while the latter isn't important, I have invested heavily in audio VSTs and it's unacceptable that even with Wine, they do not work and no virtual machines are not enough. I hope MacOS treats you well.

I loved XP. However, one of the first things I would do is make it look like Win2k. :-)

Will be a good thing ™
