Before you think of how awful this site is, remember youtube in the beginning as well. This could be a great alternative, especially if they don't remove people without a good explanation, sell your personal info or try to sway an opinion.

They use resources that other plants need. They can also smother other plants since weeds are fast growing.

Wow. So what happens when they are done banning the current batch of things they don't want people to see? What is next for Twitter to tell us how to think?

Twitter tells you how to think?

I was thinking the same thing. If it was all localized to a Pi then yes, but outside services isn't really DIY so much. Maybe half DIY if such a thing.

On the other hand, I would tend to agree that this project is a "DIY Alexa" (edit to add: in the minds of most readers of Instructables website): https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Amazon-Alexa/

This is another example of what the GP comment is complaining about. It's not a DIY Alexa. Alexa is the virtual assistant API. This is a DIY Amazon Echo that still relies on the Alexa service.

As an engineer and a technologist, I agree that you and GP are precisely correct.

If you showed it to and asked a string of randoms off the street, I think way more than half would agree with the "DIY Alexa" label as reasonably communicative description and more useful than a longer but more precise title.

Yeah, that's a good point. It's easy to get caught up in our little tech bubble :)

Besides the flooding and people either stranded or stuck at their location for weeks, not a ton of damage. The O&G infrastructure is pretty secure there.

I think it is horrible. I feel it's harder to read overall and harder to navigate. I am of the feeling, if it's not broken.....

Click on X...all are blank.

Defrag works as expected.

I am still amazed weather.com exist. Go to weather.gov and get everything you need without all the ads, tracking and bs of that other site.

The folks behind weather.com are actively trying to kill weather.gov through lobbying and other campaigns. Folks need to be made aware that their tax dollars are already being spent on top-notch science tools by folks with a vested interested in their safety.

They almost got their dream leader of NOAA when Trump appointed the head of AccuWeather, Barry Meyers, to lead NOAA. He withdrew his nomination for health reasons, but believes the government shouldn't provide any type of direct forecasts to the public. Michael Lewis has a good write up of this in his book The Fifth Risk.

Ah, the good old world doesn’t exist outside USA narrative.

I didn’t think The Weather Channel was available outside the US. I’m sure they’ll give you a forecast on weather.com but the company is American based.

The author is racist and blaming middle aged white men for agile problems.
