If you want to pass through USB, SCSI, or something like that then VMWare Workstation is better than Hyper-V for sure.

The FTP works but it won't allow anonymous logins.

According to ftp://retronn.de/archiv/old_cds/pcwelt_08_2000/pcw_mat/inhalt/PCW99.PDF page 2, this software was included on a 1999 German CD-ROM "Ausgabe 2/99" (I think that's the CD-ROM that came with the February 1999 issue of the German PC-WELT magazine), at the path "\sharewar\sw\intsich\nukefix.exe". Unfortunately I can't find an ISO of that specific CD-ROM anywhere online, but maybe someone out there has it.

what credentials work?

I've tried anon, no username/pass, etc

I'm flat out unable to connect right now but I wanted to try username anonymous, password my email address - that was the standard back in the day

oof.

Many pictures missing. Search is not great, especially for non scientific names of plants. Like "frogfruit" doesn't find anything. Other than that it's great!!

You don't have to solve it, you just have to try...

I found the software they used for digitization to be interesting: https://markummitchell.github.io/engauge-digitizer/

Something similar which is more recently-maintained: https://github.com/automeris-io/WebPlotDigitizer

Cool pictures. I noticed that the notebook cover pattern is the same as the modern notebooks but theirs were much thicker!

ah! yes. interesting, although I wonder if those old book covers are black&white but I recognize the texture too

I think Intel wants to make chips for others as well...

> Musk has a saying: “The most entertaining outcome is the most likely”. The most entertaining outcome here would be for Peter Thiel to take over Twitter and rename it “PayPal”. I can’t wait.

Amazing review. Opened my eyes. I need to read the book now...!

The fuel is too dangerous to store..

Yet, millions of tons of H2 is produced, stored and transported annually, today.

It needs adequate ventilation to ensure that any leakage doesn't accumulate to exceed a 25% mix with air. That is done where H2 is used now. You are not hearing about hydrogen detonations.

I am starting to wonder more if Google search died or if the web did. You read a lot of comments about how in the past you could find a lot more information, but the reality is that no one is posting that information outside of the walled gardens. It's no wonder Google search sucks, if they don't have direct access to these walled gardens the information is locked behind the door...
