Their ancestors were citizens of Ottoman empire and their business exits because of Sultans patronage. Who knows how they feel about the connection, yours is only speculation.
Considering they received their start through the patronage of the Ottoman Emperor, I doubt that, else that element would have been erased from their history. Turks, maybe not, but Ottomans they were.
They moved the business to the US before the genocide though (and in good time too!), so not sure how they would have been affected.
I have this occasional daydream of two internets, one global (the one we all know and love), and one local, where you can only see content from within a 10 mile radius.
My frustration is that there isn't a desktop product midway between a spreadsheet and spinning up a dev environment for a custom CRUD app for a small group of users.
I do think that Notion and its kin try to be that middle ground, though I don't know how well they succeed - I haven't used any of its database features.
Sweet Flag (Acorus calamus) is a similar aromatic grasslike plant that grows aggressively in ponds. I planted a few thin stalks a couple years ago and now it has outgrown five planters and the rhizomes are 2 inches thick. One other advantage of this plant is that the stalks provide a molting place for dragonflies.
This is correct. I added dunks exactly once, and the following years the predatory insects and frogs have done the job. I do regular spot-checks for mosquito larvae and haven't seen one in years.
